In the War the Recreation Room was used as a hospital. Mrs Evans is believed to be the lady in the middle of the photograph. She lived at Wyken House and the family, who built and maintained the Rec Room were great benefactors to Worfield. In the same style of building is the Ackleton Mission Room, built with funds supplied, I believe, by Mrs Morrison of Wyken. Mrs Evans daughter, Mary Christian Evans started the Worfield Flower Festival which ran for many years.
