PAS Number HESH-ED64C4. This brooch was found by Frank Taylor in the parish of Worfield and Rudge. Frank Taylor is a metal detectorist who has made a great contribution to our knowledge of the history of this enormous parish. The Romans loved zoomorphic brooches and this is a stunningly beautiful example. Made in cast copper gilt alloy, enamelled and with silver gilt decoration the colours are still vibrant and the craftsmanship is exquisite. The beak is broken and shorter than it would have been but apart from this and the loss of its pin it is very well preserved
