Written by Arthur (A.W. Brayley) from Barnstaple. It is stating that he is on the dole and has applied to several London Houses. Arthur must have been one of Norman's naval friends because he talks about them being in digs (lodgings) in Watford and the idiosynchracies of the landlady, Mrs Smith with her 'regularities' and her 'hournaments.'
