Worfield Parish Magazine 1880: Barford and Newitt, steam printers of Wolverhampton were the printers. There had been some very bad weather in December 1879 but there had been only 1 death in that month. In April, Rhoda Organ is baptised privately at the Gipsy Encampment. In April the Roughton Grammar School is nearing completion and a prospectus is included. The school will be open in July. Alfred Hallet is looking for work as a mason and bricklayer. Whitmore Stephenson dies in the workhouse aged 28. Attendances are good at the church but the vicar wants more poor people to come to church. In June the Parish Officers are appointed - Churchwardens are Richard Eykyn and Samuel ridley, waywardens are Alfred Blundell and Harry Sind, overseers are Richard Wilson, Thomas Meredith, Robert Bradley and Andrew Jervis. The school prizewinners are announced in July.
