The Hilton Valley Railway was a narrow gauge railway run by Michael Lloyd from 1957-1979. Sadly Michael Lloyd was killed in an hotel fire and the railway was discontinued. This was one of the most popular local attractions in the area and even now, in 2014, is talked about fondly.

The man who used to run the shop is my grandfather, George Maybury. His daughter, my Aunt ran the Black Lion village pub. As a child I spent many a happy afternoon at HVR helping my grandparents in the shop serving tea and ice creams to the visitors.
