Davenport Versus Talbot

George Talbot's defence of his position over the sale of the Rectory of Worfield and other property, including that at Wyken and Worfield tithes, is detailed. The Talbot position is basically that Henry Davenport knew what he was buying and has delayed payments. Since the Davenport and Talbot families were joined by marriage, the dispute had personal as well as financial consequences. On a completely different not, the Stableford Bridge is being repaired (October 2018) having been badly damaged by a lorry colliding with it
